Magnum photographer Dennis Stock has died

Born in New York City in 1928, the photographer was particularly known for his portraits of James Dean, commissioned by Life magazine and taken shortly before the actor's death in 1955. The photographer is also remembered for his coverage of the Venice Beach Rock Festival.

'Just two weeks ago, I was in a very engaged conversation with Dennis in regards to the futuredistribution of Magnum’s content…Dennis's dedication to his craft and his desire to ensure Magnum's future have been extremely important to the organization,' says Magnum Photos New York bureau chief Mark Lubell in a statement released to BJP.
