A
lively blend of lectures, discussions, and outdoor assignments, this
workshop with Nevada Wier tackles the challenges of photographing with
creative intent while on the move with a digital camera. We discuss
equipment and digital concerns in different travel and outdoor
environments, ways to approach and photograph people, sensitivity to
cross-cultural issues in foreign countries, and tips, both theoretical
and practical, on using natural light as well as fill-flash. The week
includes group and individual critiques, personal assignments, and great
  fun in the field.
The
emphasis is on elevating your creative vision and expanding your
photographic technique, all while remaining fleet-footed and agile. The
historic town of Santa Fe and its environs, provide the ideal
environment for the travel photographer-no passport required!

Infrared
photography is a way of creating images using the invisible infrared
light that strikes your subject. Long-time infrared experimenter Nevada
Wier calls it "invisible poetry," because in the process of studying
this technique, you move beyond your usual methods of photographing and
discover a new way of seeing the world. Infrared is not only ideal for
creating dreamy, surreal landscapes, but it's also lovely for portrait
and still life photography.
Infrared
photography in the digital age is light years ahead of its film
counterpart. Two factors have led to this unique niche becoming more
accessible: first, the use of digital cameras that have been converted
to render infrared light and, second, new digital workflow protocols.
In
this two-and-a-half day intensive, Nevada introduces you to digital
infrared photography. Using converted cameras and Adobe software, you
learn the ins and outs of photographing and processing your images.
After getting comfortable with the technique, you move into the creative
and experimental side of making images with the infrared spectrum.
Historic
Santa Fe, the neighboring town of Nambé, and the Albuquerque Balloon
Fiesta provide us with dramatic locations for our infrared explorations.
By the end of this intensive you are a maven of invisible light and a
maker of photographic poetry!
